Top tips on wellness from Dr. James!

This week, we asked our favorite Vivooer Dr. James about his wellness routine, how he keeps his wellness on point, and why he loves using Vivoo!

For those of you who don’t know, Dr. James is a cardiovascular research scientist and a doctor of pharmacy. He is also the author of bestseller books like WIN, The Salt Fix & The Immunity Fix.

1. What is your daily routine like in terms of nutrition & exercise? 

I eat 3 times a day, usually consisting of half a plate of animal-based foods (pastured eggs & 100% grass-fed meat) plus half a plate of broccoli/peppers/onions. I also eat Greek/Icelandic yogurt with pecans and a little raw honey. And for dessert, I like to have fruit.

I exercise 5-6 times a week, doing weight lifting/resistance training 4-5 times a week and cardio/high-intensity interval training 3-4 times a week.

2. What favorite wellness routine are you obsessed with these days?

My obsession is shadow boxing! It’s a great way to get my cardio in. 

3. Can you share one tip for people who want to improve their exercise performance?

Ensuring optimal sodium levels is one of the best ways to improve your exercise performance, especially 90 minutes prior to exercise. Testing your salinity with Vivoo tests just before exercising is especially helpful, giving you a reflection of what your sodium level was around 90 minutes before training.

4. What is your favorite thing about Vivoo?

Ease of use at home. Being able to test in the comfort of my home without making office appointments is my favorite thing.

5. What is your favorite wellness parameter on Vivoo?

It’s a tie between salinity, magnesium, and urine pH. I think those 3 things are my 3 favorite wellness parameters because they help me keep my mineral and vegetable intake optimal.
